Cleaning tips to prepare your home for Christmas
Christmas is a few days away and many people are busy pulling out all the stops to prepare for the festive season. From picking out Christmas decorations to creating menus to feed family, there is so much that needs to be done. Of course, the first and most important thing is getting the home clean and ready for a celebration, and to help you out, I’ve compiled a list of things you need to keep in mind for a stress-free Christmas:
Start by walking through the entire house
Before you start your annual Christmas cleaning, it’s always a good idea to do one complete walk through your entire house just to get an idea of what needs to be cleaned. Taking the time to do this, will save you a lot of time and give you a chance to create an efficient cleaning schedule. It also means you are less likely to miss out on any spots that need to be cleaned.
Take the time to declutter
As soon as you have created your cleaning schedule, you should start by cleaning out all unnecessary items and rearranging each room. This will make the main cleaning job much easier because you will have more space.
Remember to sanitize after cleaning
In this new climate of domestic cleaning, sanitizing is more important than ever to avoid the spread of harmful germs. You can choose to wipe each surface with a sanitizing product or, you can spray it on after wiping. Just take note to use products that are eco-friendly and that aren’t made from ingredients that have overpowering smells or that are irritating to the skin. If you really want to play it safe, you can sanitize it with a diluted vinegar solution.
If you plan on hiring professionals, do it quickly
Christmas cleaning is a lucrative business and as such, many companies will be fully booked and unavailable during this time. If you plan on investing in good professional cleaning here in London then I suggest you make your bookings as early as late October just to be safe. If you don’t book early then I recommend you either enlist the help of friends and family or be prepared to hire emergency cleaners that can cost you up to twice or even 3 times more than a regular cleaning service.
